As a photographer📷, I always have to travel somewhere new✈ and everytime I cannot take someone with me🤷🏻♀
When I just started my career it was difficult to travel alone🧳, but as the situation demanded and to follow my passion for photography I went on my first-ever solo trip to Delhi🚃. I had a project of street food photography. Reached there and I felt so lonely and scared😶 There was no one that I can talk or go to explore the city with.
I am such a big fan of street food but I came back after shoot as I felt so shy to eat alone. The biggest challenge for me was to eat alone. If you also feel awkward and you are on a solo trip then use this time to talk with your family and friends💬, also you can order food in your room or sit at a place where you don't directly face the other diners✌
The shoot went well and after coming back to my hotel I decided to give myself a reward🤭 because it was my first solo travel and I think we should celebrate small wins even if they seem insignificant to others🎉.
👉Here are a few things that I considered on my first solo trip (although it was for work, I went to shoot for just 5 hours and stayed and explored the city for rest of the time):
• Choose the hotel very carefully. I usually don't worry about price of hotel as it should be a place where I feel safe.
• Carry cash with you ALWAYS!!
• Avoid drinking.
• Always share your location and plans with atleast one of your loved ones.
These are some of the things that I keep in mind and you should too!
Happy travels!✈
