Emotions are a powerful resource if we use them in the right way. We face a lot of emotions, some negative and some positive. Very often, these emotions are hard to control, but they hold the power to impact our lives. I am going to share my personal experience of how I use my emotions to be more productive.
I am a volcano-angry person. Let me explain what it means: I control my anger until I can't take it anymore, and then it all goes out at once. But one thing I noticed was that whenever I was angry, I used to complete my work faster and more efficiently. I researched a lot and started to make a list of what emotions were helping me in what ways. I will give you two examples (one positive and the other negative).
Whenever I was confident, things used to go much better than I expected. Once I knew this, I found out what made me confident, mostly clothes. So, I make sure to wear clothes that make me the most confident. Confidence affected me positively; here's how jealousy impact me: I start feeling worthless whenever I'm jealous. I found out that my friend used to make me feel this way by very subtly targeting my insecurities, so I stopped reacting to my weak points in front of her, and she had few to no reasons to make me feel this way.
Here are some questions that can help you find out how your emotions are impacting you:
- How is a particular emotion affecting me (positively/negatively)?
- Why do I face this emotion (find the reason)?
- What can I do to increase/decrease the frequency of this emotion?
For your convenience, I have added an image of some emotions that you can start with.
I hope that you have learnt something from my experience. For any confusion, you can DM me, and I'll do my best to help you out.
I just asked myself the questions that you have mentioned and they are really useful. Thanks for this!😄
