I used to think that I needed some big achievements or special occasions to be truly happy. I was always dissatisfied with things and felt like everything had to be perfect. This mindset was really affecting my relationships with others and making it difficult for me to be happy. But then, I went on a trip with some friends and one of them used to be the happiest person and since I was with her I realised how she found happiness in literally the smallest of things. That moment it hit me that life is so short and I was literally doing things so wrong. It was a real eye-opener for me.
So, I started changing my mindset and began to appreciate things in small ways. It started with finding at least one thing every day to be thankful for. As this became a habit, I started to notice the small things that were happening around me every day that I had never noticed before. I began to appreciate people’s efforts and thank them for their contributions in small ways, like thanking the cook for a delicious meal. It was amazing how much happier I became just by shifting my focus to the little things. I now realize that becoming happy is all about appreciating the small things in life.
